Custom Import

Tip: This feature is available with Powerpay Plus.

Tip: You must open a pay period to use this feature / functionality. Click the Pay Period menu and click the Enter button for the pay period you want to work with. The Payroll and Process menus become available.

Use the Custom Import page.Closed From the Payroll menu, select Import > Custom Import. to import payroll files and populate employee profile, timesheet, direct deposit and deduction and contribution data in Powerpay without the need to manually enter information.

Prerequisites

  • Dayforce has activated import functionality for your payroll.

  • A Regular payroll run or an extra run is created and open.
  • Custom Import Templates are created and available for the files to import.

Before Performing an Import

Before performing a custom import, note the following:

  • Only one import file may be processed at a time. Imports must follow the following order to ensure that new employees are created before importing their timesheet date: Employee Profile, Employee Timesheet, Direct Deposit, Deductions / Contributions.
  • If you are a Powerpay People customer using Onboarding, you cannot import new hires. New hires must be added using the Onboarding feature. Click here for more information.

  • Imported data is subject to the same business validation and conditions as though the information was keyed or selected within the Powerpay pages.
  • Preview and Imports cannot be processed at the same time. If a Preview was requested first, it will complete and then begin processing the import file(s). A Preview cannot be selected with an import is in progress.
  • Payroll runs cannot be submitted while an import is listed in a pending or processing state on the Import Status page.
  • Import file size maximum is 5 MB.
